(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota could be the next state to legalize sports betting. More than 30 states have allowed online sports wagering, helping bring in millions in tax revenue every year. Under a Senate resolution, more than 90-percent of online sports betting tax revenue would go to property tax relief if it gets passed. Governor Larry Rhoden says he has opposed the expansion of gaming in the state since he was a legislator. Since the Senate resolution would go straight to the ballot, Rhoden would not have veto power over the decision.
