(Grand Forks, ND) — A Grand Forks man is facing attempted murder charges for a Valentine’s Day stabbing. Fernando Lucio is accused of going to the victim’s home to deliver Valentine’s gifts before stabbing the woman multiple times with a knife. The woman’s child tried to intervene by jumping on Lucio’s back and was bitten by Lucio on the left arm. Officers recovered a knife with a broken handle at the scene and the victim was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Lucio was located a short time later and initially denied stabbing the victim in an interview with police.
