Mitchell Police Investigate ‘Jackpotting’ Incidents At 2 Banks

(Mitchell, SD) — Police are saying nearly 80-thousand dollars were stolen from Interactive Teller Machines at two banks. The burglaries happened overnight between February 13th and 14th. Police say the front of the machines were broken into in a type of crime known as “jackpotting.” It’s where criminals are able to gain access to the internal computers of the ITMs and withdraw cash without providing bank account information. The Mitchell Police Department is investigating the incidents.
