New data released by the Renewable Fuels Association indicates the value of U.S. ethanol industry exports climbed to an all-time high of $7.6 billion in 2025. That growth was driven by record-setting volumes, including 2.18 billion gallons of ethanol shipped overseas and 11.6 million metric tons of distillers’ grains exported to global markets.

“Growth in the export market provided crucial support for U.S. ethanol producers this past year,” said RFA President and CEO Geoff Cooper. “Our trading partners around the world are increasingly embracing American-made ethanol because it helps lower their fuel costs, reduces emissions, and decreases their reliance on petroleum.”

The report shows the value of U.S. ethanol exports alone surged to $4.8 billion, marking another record for the industry. Canada once again emerged as the top destination, with shipments reaching an annual high for a single country at more than 792 million gallons.

The United States also maintained its position as a net exporter of ethanol for the 16th straight year. Imports represented less than 0.1 percent of total domestic consumption, underscoring the strength of U.S. production and global demand for renewable fuels.
