Judge Orders Greenpeace To Pay $345M For Defamation

(Bismarck, ND) — A North Dakota judge is ordering Greenpeace to pay 345-million dollars. The Netherlands-based organization was found guilty by a nine-person jury of defamation and other charges against Dallas-based company Energy Transfer. A judge is ordering Greenpeace to pay the nine-figure amount, which is about half of what the jury recommended. Greenpeace contends it cannot pay the amount. Both sides are expected to launch appeals in the state Supreme Court.
