(Vermillion, SD) — The South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development is choosing Vermillion as its Community of the Year. Each year a city is chosen after displaying a commitment to economic growth, housing and commercial development. Vermillion Mayor Jon Cole says the city is proud to be recognized. One of the number of projects in the city includes the opening of the new Clay County Law Enforcement Center and Jail. The city also added the new Cotton Park Courts, which feature six outdoor pickleball courts and two tennis courts, and an expansion at the Boys and Girls Club of Vermillion.
