(Cass County, ND) — A former prosecutor turned judge is serving a disciplinary order for a rules violation. The winter 2026 edition of “The Gavel” notes District Court Judge Ryan Younggren, “knowingly submitted a video and transcript to a jury containing inadmissible evidence.” The defendant in the case was sentenced to 35 years in jail but he was resentenced to eight years on Monday in lieu of the discovery. The state determined that Younggren’s actions, “were not done nefariously,” but, “hindered the proper administration of justice.” Younggren is currently up for election to fill the East Central Judicial District’s Eighth judgeship.
