(Sioux Falls, SD) — The Smithfield TIF is heading to City Council after passing through the Planning Commission Wednesday. Community members voiced their concerns about an expected increase in traffic in the area. They were particularly concerned with heavy trucks driving down one-way roads. One resident asked representatives from Smithfield what they would do if they were in the same position saying, “do you see people building ethanol plants in city limits?” A Smithfield spokesperson said they tried to design the most industrial aspects of the facility as far away from residential properties as possible.
