(Ward County, ND) — The Ward County Commission is rejecting a proposal to install security cameras at polling places. Commissioners voted to pursue a federal grant to purchase cameras and place them outside the county administration building but said the cameras at polling locations would make voters uncomfortable. The vote came despite assurances that cameras would not be placed in positions where ballots would be captured. The idea for cameras had come as a suggestion from a representative of the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency and was met with resistance from County Auditor Marisa Haman who said existing outside cameras provide enough security already.
