(Devils Lake, ND) — A Wisconsin man may have caught the largest perch ever in the state of North Dakota. Alan Hintz of Stevens Point reeled in a 16-point-five inch perch that weighed in at two-point-99 pounds on Devils Lake. North Dakota Game Warden Jon Peterson measured the fish at Woodland Resort. It would break the current record set in 1982 of a two-pound, 15-ounce perch caught by Kyle Smith of Carrington, North Dakota, also caught on Devils Lake. North Dakota Game and Fish requires a four-week waiting period to verify all data before the record becomes official.
