(Bismarck, ND) — North Dakota’s Regional EPA Administrator Cyrus Western is happy with recent emission regulation rollbacks. He says the state’s coal-fired power plants will benefit from emissions standards set in 2012. Western says the decision to revert back to Obama-era emissions standards by the Trump administration will keep the air clean and allow utilities companies to burn fuel that is reliable and affordable. Jonathan Fortner of the Lignite Energy Council adds that there wasn’t technology that could control emissions to levels set in 2024 by the Biden administration. The Trump administration projects there will be 670-million dollars in savings for families and existing coal facilities.
