SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – No. 2 seed South Dakota State started fast and didn’t look back, earning a 75-61 victory over No. 7 seed Kansas City in the quarterfinals of the Summit League Women’s Basketball Championship at the Denny Sanford Premier Center. The Jackrabbits extended their conference tournament win streak to 10 games and have reached the semifinals in 16 of 18 overall appearances.
Senior Brooklyn Meyer paced SDSU with 26 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field to go along with nine rebounds and five blocks. In the process, she eclipsed 2,000 career points and set a new program record for most points in a season (682). Jackrabbits senior Madison Mathiowetz added 18 points with six rebounds and four assists.
SDSU will play the winner of No. 3 seed South Dakota or No. 6 seed Denver 25 minutes after the conclusion of Saturday’s first women’s semifinal.
