NDSU Women’s Golf Mid Pack After Day One of SoCal Spring Invitational

CAMARILLO, Calif. – Sophomore Avery Bartels is tied for the lead to position the North Dakota State women’s golf team to sit in the middle of the 15-team field after the opening round of the SoCal Spring Invitational at Sterling Hills Golf Club on Sunday.

Bartels (72) is locked in a five-way tie for the leader position after the first round of play. Bartels fired a team-high three birdies and 12 holes at par to finish +1 on the day.

Norah Roberts (76) finished just outside the top 20 after round one in a tie for 23rd. The junior was even through 11 holes and picked up a birdie on hole 18 to finish +5 overall.

Madi Hicks (77) and Hannah Dunk (78) are just behind Roberts after the opening round. Hicks logged 12 holes at an even-par and a birdie on the final hole to finish +6 in a tie for 32nd. Dunk, who is playing as an individual, fired an eagle on hole seven and finished +7 overall in a tie for 40th.

Cora Larson (80) and Jeri Lafleche (82) wrap up the Bison for the event. Larson was the final NDSU scorer for round one, carding a birdie on the fourth hole and a round of +9 to sit in a tie for 57th. Lafleche finished +11 and is tied for 67th.

As a team, NDSU (305) is tied for sixth with CSU Northridge (305) after carding a first-round score of +21.
