(Sturgis, SD) — Sturgis hosts its final legislative Crackerbarrel of the 2026 session. On Saturday, Meade County residents questioned lawmakers about upcoming issues in the state Legislature. The agenda covered economic, social, health, safety, and other community concerns expected to come forward in future House and Senate floor votes. Representative Kathy Rice highlighted rising property taxes, saying increases could make homeownership harder for young people and force older residents out of their homes. Legislators explained the status of current bills and encouraged residents to stay engaged and contact their representatives as the session continues.
