(Pierre, SD) — State Senate Majority Leader Jim Melhalff doesn’t think Kristi Noem will run for Senate. Melhalff shared his thoughts on the matter in an interview with KOTA News. Rumors of a potential Senate run by Noem were sparked after she was removed from her role as DHS Secretary. Noem was immediately named to a new diminished role in the Trump administration as Special Envoy at the Shield of America’s Summit. Melhalff is dismissing the chatter of a Senate run as, “idle speculation.”
