(Rapid City, SD) — A Rapid City man will serve ten years in prison for manslaughter. The state agreed to a plea of second degree manslaughter for 56-year-old Gregory Landers in the killing of 30-year-old Acey Morrison in August of 2022. The investigation shows that the two connected on a dating app and met at Landers’ home in Rapid City. Landers claims he shot and killed Morrison the next morning in an act of self defense. Attorneys said there were multiple inconsistencies between Landers’ account of what happened and the evidence, but that its hard to prosecute when only one side can speak for themselves.
