(Crooks, SD) — Residents in Crooks are expressing concerns about traffic and pollution from Smithfield Foods. They gathered for a discussion with town officials on Monday after the Sioux Falls Planning Commission approved a permit for the new facility on March 4th. “Everybody in this town is very upset about this,” one Crooks resident said. One of the major concerns is that new drivers will be interacting with massive semi-trucks coming in and out of the plant more frequently. The next discussion about the plant is scheduled for March 17th at Carnegie Hall before it’s voted on by the City Council.
