(Sioux Falls, SD) — The South Dakota Department of Health says three more people have died from the flu. It brings the 2025-2026 season death total up to 23 in the state. The department is also reporting there have been 15-thousand-204 cases and 838 hospitalizations in the state this season. The number of cases peaked in the second week of February and new cases have slowed down ever since. Influenza is most common in the winter and usually the virus passes within 48 hours.
