(Sioux Falls, SD) — High Wind Warnings on Thursday give way to possible snow showers on Friday. Wind gusts of 60-to-80 miles per hour overnight are not expected to die down until Friday morning. Behind the strong winds, a new snow system blows through with showers expected in western South Dakota on Friday, drifting east throughout the weekend. The heaviest snow is expected to fall Saturday afternoon into Sunday when a Winter Storm Watch will go into effect. While winds will die down from extreme gusts on Thursday, they are still expected to cause difficulties for travelers, especially on Sunday.
