Supreme Court Upholds ‘Stand Your Ground Law’ In 2024 Shooting

(Pierre, SD) — The South Dakota Supreme Court says a man is justified in a 2024 shooting. They are justifying the actions based on the state’s “stand your ground laws.” The five-to-zero ruling was released on Thursday. Defendant David Streeter shot Kelly Anderson in August 2024 in Streeter’s bunker residence near the Ellsworth Air Force Base. The explanation provided in the ruling states that Streeter had the right to be in his home and he was not participating in criminal activities at the time of the shooting.
