AG Wrigley Announces Settlement Over Dakota Access Pipeline

(Bismarck, ND) — Attorney General Drew Wrigley says a settlement has been reached in the Dakota Access Pipeline protest case. The state filed a lawsuit against the federal government in 2019 saying the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers facilitated protests that resulted in damages to the state. A U.S. District Court ruled in favor of North Dakota last year, awarding them 27-million in damages. Wrigley said the settlement will avoid further litigation after the government decided to appeal the decision. The ruling last year would have to be vacated in order for the settlement to take effect.
