(Custer, SD) — The Qury Fire continues burning just two miles southwest of Custer. It has grown to more than nine-thousand acres but firefighters are making progress, saying containment has increased to 44 percent. Weather has been restricting some progress but most of the perimeter lines are holding up and Incident Commander Todd Hoover says he believes they have reached the final acreage. Parts of Custer State Park are still closed due to fire dangers. Hoover says animals have congregated safely in the southeast corner of the park.
