(Sioux Falls, SD) — Authorities are conducting an autopsy on McKenna Wendel who went missing on March 13th. Police say there were suspicious circumstances regarding 14-year-old’s disappearance but no charges have been filed. Her body was discovered just east of Brookings over the weekend. Attorney General Marty Jackley says the investigation has spanned across three states, including Minnesota, Iowa and South Dakota. Sioux Falls Police Chief Jon Thum says he knows the public has questions but some information is being withheld to protect the integrity of the investigation.
