(Sturgis, SD) — Sturgis Mayor Kevin Forrester is stepping down after being diagnosed with cancer. Forrester announced his resignation, effective immediately, in a letter to the city council. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer last fall. The city council is expected to hold a special meeting on Wednesday where they will discuss a transition plan.
