(Pierre, SD) — Gov. Larry Rhoden says he will sign a bill requiring proof of citizenship for state elections. The bill will require certain documentation in order to register to vote. Rhoden says he has been holding off on signing it to allow time for county auditors to prepare for the immediate changes. He says it’s one of many other bills he still has to sign. Rhoden says some auditors are more concerned than others about being able to make the changes in time but he thinks it’s workable.
