State’s Attorney Provides Update On McKenna Wendel Case

(Brookings, SD) — State’s Attorney Dan Nelson says McKenna Wendel was not killed where her body was found. The body of the 14-year-old girl was found on March 19th in Brookings County, six days after she was last seen on March 13th. Nelson says the recovery of the body was the only thing that happened in Brookings County. Wendel was a student at McGovern Middle School in Sioux Falls. School Board President Nan Kelly said during Monday’s board meeting that the community is heartbroken and their thoughts are with the family, friends, teachers, and loved ones of McKenna.
