(Pennington County, SD) — Pennington County is launching a wildfire preparedness campaign following serious wildfires in the Black Hills. The campaign is a week-long effort to sound the alarm before wildfire season officially begins. Emergency management teams say drought conditions have the state on high alert this year. The campaign will hold events that cover what to do when a wildfire starts nearby, what the evacuation orders mean, what to do with pets and animals, and how to protect your property with defensible space.
