(Houston, TX) — The WNBA’s Connecticut Sun franchise is being sold and will relocate to Houston, Texas. Multiple reports say the team has been bought by the Fertitta family, which owns the Houston Rockets, for a record 300-million-dollars. An official announcement of the move is expected Monday. The Sun will play one final season in Connecticut before moving in 2027. The move returns the WNBA to Houston and is expected to revive the Houston Comets name. The original Comets franchise was one of the league’s founding teams before disbanding in 2008. They are tied with the Seattle Storm and Minnesota Lynx for the most championships of any WNBA franchise.
