(Martin, SD) — A man is facing federal prison time after hitting an elderly man with his vehicle. Jose Jimenez was sentenced to five years and three months in federal prison and ordered to pay more than 31-thousand dollars in restitution for hitting an elderly man with his vehicle on the Pine Ridge Reservation. Jimenez pleaded guilty to two counts in December of 2025. Authorities say he was speeding in a no passing zone and had alcohol in his truck when he struck the victim’s vehicle head-on. The elderly man was life-flighted to a hospital in Rapid City and has undergone multiple surgeries since the crash.
