(Sioux Falls, SD) — Xcel customers in South Dakota can expect refunds from a nuclear energy tax credit. The company announced the refund on Tuesday. South Dakotans are expected to average two-dollars-26-cents less per month on their energy bills over the next 10 months. The refund period starts on May 1st in South Dakota. They were made possible because Xcel’s nuclear plants in Monticello and Prairie Island account for 27-percent of electricity used by customers in the company’s five-state, Upper Midwest system.
