(Minot, ND) — A spokesperson for Minot says its water treatment plant was hit with a ransomware attack. City Manager Tom Joyce submitted a letter to the council on Tuesday, detailing the cyber attack that happened on March 14th. The computer server at the plant was unplugged and staff had to conduct manual procedures for about 16 hours. Joyce said the water supply was never impacted and the city remained operational. He said there was never a request for money and the city was able to identify opportunities for training and preventative measures to avoid a similar incident in the future.
