(Sioux Falls, SD) — The first Republican debate between four candidates running for governor covered a range of topics. Incumbent Larry Rhoden, Jon Hansen, Dusty Johnson and Toby Doeden each provided their thoughts on the “Not In My Backyard” movement, regarding eminent domain for CO2 pipelines. Rhoden and Johnson both expressed the need to protect property owner’s rights, while Rhoden said its important for the state to remain open for growth. Hansen and Doeden both expressed fears that companies would bully people from their homes. Doeden also tied the issue into his property tax reform plan.
