(Sioux Falls, SD) — A man must serve 72 years in prison following a sentencing hearing on Wednesday. Kevin Dewayne Bass learned his fate from a Minnehaha County judge after being convicted of rape, assault, false imprisonment and burglary. The trial was held in September and stemmed from an incident in June of 2024 where Bass is believed to have assaulted and raped his ex girlfriend in her own home. The victim called her father during the attack by using voice commands on her phone. Bass is also believed to be the triggerman in a drive-by shooting in 2023.
