(Pierre, SD) — South Dakota Highway Patrol is receiving a 150-thousand-dollar grant to partner with ICE. Gov. Rhoden made the announcement on Tuesday. The grant money will help subsidize payroll, equipment and information technology stipends in exchange for the patrol’s participation in ICE’s 287-G program. The patrol has 40 state troopers who participate in the program, which has led to more than 204 immigration-related arrests. State officials say those offenders who were in the country unlawfully also included individuals accused of murder, assault on law enforcement officers and other various drug offenses.
