(Pierre, SD) — Democratic U.S. Senate candidate Julian Beaudion is ending his campaign. Beaudion said in a statement that a house fire has caused “extraordinary personal challenges” to him and his family over recent weeks. The party has until next Tuesday to nominate a replacement candidate. State Democrats said in a new release that they respect Beaudion’s decision and that he would have made “an outstanding U.S. Senator for South Dakota.” The party did not say if they would pick a new nominee in the limited time frame.
