(Undated) — South Dakota leaders are reacting to the news that President Joe Biden will not seek re-election. Governor Noem said on X this is “the right decision for our nation.” Republican Senator John Thune said, “Whether it’s Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, or someone else, it doesn’t matter who’s at the top of the ticket.” South Dakota Democratic Party chair Shane Merrill told KELO the party thanks President Biden for his strong leadership and that he’s one of the greatest leaders of our lifetime. He added the party now looks forward to electing a new presidential nominee at the Democratic National Convention next month. President Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to run against Donald Trump in November.
