TikTok Buyer Eyes SD As Future Home For App Infrastructure

(Madison, SD) — A Wyoming entrepreneur hoping to buy TikTok says South Dakota could play a big role in the app’s future. Reid Rasner, who’s made a nearly 47-point-five-billion-dollar bid to buy the platform, visited Dakota State University in Madison  with Governor Larry Rhoden. Rasner says the university’s tech research is a perfect match for his plans. He calls South Dakota the front-runner for TikTok’s future infrastructure if his bid goes through. The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that TikTok’s Chinese parent company, ByteDance, must sell. Rasner says if that happens by the June 19th deadline, he’ll move forward with public-private partnerships in the state.
