(Deuel County, SD) — Parts of South Dakota are recovering after powerful tornadoes tore across the state over the weekend. At least five tornadoes touched down from Saturday into early Sunday. Videos and photos being shared from residents show giant clouds, flashes of light, and trees ripped from the ground. Two of them near Gary packed winds up to 140 miles per hour, strong enough to flatten homes and toss cars. In Clear Lake, the Crystal Springs Rodeo got postponed as one twister moved in. Another tornado touched down just south of Kadoka, destroying at least two homes. Despite the destruction, no deaths have been reported. Cleanup is now underway with neighbors and volunteers out clearing debris and covering damaged roofs.
