(Grand Forks, ND) — A Grand Forks man is heading to prison for attempted murder. Alexander Thompson entered an updated plea of guilty to two felony counts on Monday. The charges included attempted murder and aggravated assault, with the latter charge dropped on the condition of his plea agreement. The 28-year-old was accused of choking his coworker with an extension cord and making the victim lose consciousness. Thompson was sentenced to 20 years in prison, but he will only serve eight after having 12 years suspended.
