(Bismarck, ND) — A man convicted of murdering his adoptive parents in 1998 will be resentenced. The North Dakota Supreme Court recently approved Brian Erickstad’s appeal to be resentenced for the murders of Barbara and Gordon Erickstad. He argued that a lower court failed to provide proper notice of his amended sentence in 2022. This came after new state laws restructured mandatory parole guidelines. The state Supreme Court agreed, and he will now receive an appropriate resentencing for his parole eligibility at an unspecified date.
