(South Williamsport, PA) — The Little League World Series begins today in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. Ten teams from around the United States and 10 more from across the globe will compete in the double-elimination tournament. The US teams hail from Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Nevada, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Texas and Washington. The international bracket features teams from Aruba, Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, South Czech Republic, Japan, Mexico, Panama, Puerto Rico and Venezuela. A team from the United States has won the last six tournaments dating back to 2018.
Sioux Falls opens against Mid-Atlantic champion Pennsylvania on Thursday at 6 p.m. Central. To represent the Midwest for a second straight year, Team South Dakota earned its spot with a dominant shutout win over Fargo in the regional final last Friday. It’s South Dakota’s fourth time overall going to the Little League World Series.
