(Minneapolis, MN) — Minnesota Twins fans will have to endure the Pohlad family for longer than expected. The club’s owners reneged on last year’s pledge to sell the team in a statement posted on social media yesterday. The Pohlads said that they will instead bring in two minority owners, keeping the controlling stake of the Twins with the bloodline that tried to relocate them to North Carolina, that agreed to contract them from Major League Baseball, and that slashed their payroll following their first playoff win in two decades.
The family has owned the team since they were purchased for 44-million dollars in 1984 by banker Carl Pohlad, who began building his wealth by delivering foreclosure notices during the Great Depression.
