(Mitchell, SD) — South Dakota’s full congressional delegation comes together in Mitchell, drawing a packed crowd at Dakotafest on Wednesday. Senators John Thune and Mike Rounds, along with Representative Dusty Johnson, tackled big topics like trade, tariffs, and ag workforce issues. Johnson highlighted the five billion dollars in ag exports South Dakota generates each year and said strong trade deals could boost that even more. Thune urged patience on negotiations, while Rounds warned about the risk of tariff retaliation hurting local producers. The trio also touched on immigration hurdles, especially with the H-2A program, saying red tape is holding up needed ag workers. All three say supporting South Dakota farmers remains a top priority.
