(Pierre, SD) — After the deadly church shooting in Minneapolis, South Dakota U.S. Senator Mike Rounds says it’s time to get serious about using artificial intelligence to detect online threats. The FBI is investigating the attack as a hate crime and act of domestic terrorism. Rounds, who serves on the Senate’s Cybersecurity Subcommittee, says many shooters leave digital warning signs, and AI could help law enforcement flag those threats sooner. He’s also calling for stronger coordination between federal agencies and mental health professionals to stop violence before it starts.
