No Injuries Reported After ND Marks Historic Amount Of Tornadoes In Single Year

(Bismarck, ND) — No injuries have been reported after over a dozen tornadoes were confirmed throughout North Dakota on Sunday. The National Weather Service identified at least 19 tornadoes during the severe weather event, as several cities were also hit by historic rainfall for their respective areas. The recent tornadoes brought North Dakota’s total to 58 in 2025, a new record for the total number of tornadoes statewide in a single calendar year. The previous record of tornadoes in a single year was in 1999, with 61 confirmed twisters. Officials say structural damage was the most significant loss on Sunday, with preliminary costs still being estimated.
