USD Professor Reinstated After Court Grants Restraining Order

(Vermillion, SD) — A federal judge is allowing University of South Dakota professor Michael Hook back in the classroom for now, after granting his request for a temporary restraining order. Hook sued the Board of Regents and USD, arguing he was placed on leave over a Facebook post about Charlie Kirk that should be protected under free speech. The judge ruled there wasn’t enough evidence the post disrupted university operations. Hook’s case moves forward with a hearing set for October 8th.
