(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakota prison officials are “aggressively” investigating the death of a 25-year-old inmate in Sioux Falls, the third death in just two days at the facility. Department of Corrections Secretary Kellie Wasko says the case is being reviewed with the Division of Criminal Investigation and the DOC Inspector General’s office. The inmate Kaleb Lukkes, serving time for aggravated assault, died on Tuesday. That’s along with 57-year-old Keith McLain, who died Monday from an apparent suicide, and 64-year-old Frank Twiggs, who passed Wednesday in comfort care. So far, Lukkes is the 15th offender death reported in South Dakota this year.
