Knudsen Accused of Rewriting Ballot Language

(Helena, MT) — Montana Attorney General Austin Knudsen is being accused of trying to sabotage a ballot initiative to keep judicial elections nonpartisan. Two groups took legal action Monday against Knudsen, accusing him of rewriting the language of Constitutional Initiative 131 in order to make the issue confusing. The lawsuit claims Knudsen’s action is illegal because he already approved the measure. The initiative, if approved, would add nonpartisan elections to the state constitution where it mentions the election of judges.
