(Sioux Falls, SD) — South Dakotans won’t get any help from the state if they lose SNAP benefits on November 1st. The state’s Department of Social Services tells KELOLAND News that if the federal government shutdown continues and SNAP benefits aren’t funded in November, recipients will not receive them for that month. It says the feds have told states they won’t be reimbursed if they choose to fund those benefits to SNAP recipients. Roughly 75-thousand South Dakotans normally get the food stamp benefits.
