One person is dead and a 21-year-old man is in custody after an incident Wednesday morning at an apartment building in Horace.
Cass County deputies were called to the Carlson Place Apartments just after 8 a.m., where they found an injured woman. Emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but she died at the scene from what appeared to be a gunshot wound.
Family members tell WDAY the victim was their cousin.
Deputies later arrested 21-year-old Derrick Lobbo of Horace. He’s facing charges of reckless endangerment, child neglect, and two outstanding warrants, with additional charges possible.
The Sheriff’s Office plans to release more information at a press conference Thursday at 1 p.m.
Police say nearby Horace school campuses were not in danger.
